Dear Comrades,
It was fantastic to welcome young and old to Favershams' Branch Centenary Celebrations.
Halfway through the speeches Graham Morris (District Organiser No.1) was asked to present gifts and numbered badges 001, 002 and 003, to retired ASLEF members, Alan Hall, Joe Sears and Ken Greaves respectively. Ken Greaves was also presented with a 45 year badge. Badge no.082 is being sent to Head Office to be added to the museum collection. Retired former Branch Secretary Don Huntley will be presented with badge no.100 at a later date.
Many retired drivers were able to attend and weren't slow in reminding the "new" boys how to do the job properly! Alan and Joe were happy to tell anyone who would listen how they attended the first Branch Meeting back in 1907! The warmth and comradeship was there for all to see and the celebrating went on until late in the night.
All 100 numbered Centenary badges have now been sold, a couple of dozen plain ones remain at £5 plus £1 p&p. Some special "Friends of Faversham" centenary badges may be available soon on Ebay.
Finally, special thanks must go to Billy Williams for designing the badge.
